But if we wish to use their electronic equipment, we will have to pay a small rental fee. I think we can bring everything we need and avoid any extra charges. W: I realize you want to save some money, but I think we will waste more time and energy packing and transporting our projector and... what else will we need? M: A few microphones, some speakers, and extension cords for everything. There are non-electrical items, too, like giant pads of paper for the speakers to write on, and markers. W: Still, there are other aspects of the event I would rather you spend your time on. Ask all the speakers for what items they will need and arrange with the conference center for them to be available for our use.

If he works even one shift more, we might find ourselves in trouble. W: Fine. I will offer the other shifts he is scheduled to workers with more seniority. But, what if no one can work those hours? He usually works the least desirable shift, from midnight to early morning. M: If no one takes them, then we can re-assign them to Paul
[听力原文] W: Excuse me, sir. If you have a moment, I would like to tell you a little about our instant drink powders. Here, try a sample of our almond drink. M: Thank you, this is good. The powder dissolves in warm water quickly and only needs to be stirred a few times before it is ready to serve. The packets are sold in boxes of 12, and they keep for up to 24 months if unopened. I called you earlier about an order of business cards you sent. There is a problem with the file we need resolved. W: Sorry. We must have requested about 30 different cards today. M: The file is called "X25 Party." The problem is that the file was saved in a new version of the design software. You need to save it as Version 10, since that is the latest version we use. W: Oh, I thought we had fixed that. I will take care of this now. You know, it would make things easier if you upgraded your software. Most designers nowadays use Version 12, if not Version 13.
[听力原文] W: The last page of the contract outlines the scope of work. Take a moment and read it; it lists all the work you are expected to complete and the days certain parts of the project are due. M: The last page, you say? Sorry, but the last page in the packet you gave me is the page I am to sign. I do not see any scope of work. W: Oh, that is strange. Maybe it is still on the copy machine. [听力原文] M: Mrs. Lindon, I have bad news to share. The electric gate outside the shop broke tonight. Someone parked their scooter too close to the building and I did not notice it before hitting the switch to close the gate. All of a sudden I heard a loud screeching sound, like the sound of metal crushing metal, and of plastic breaking. Thankfully I was able to hit the off switch quickly, but the damage to the gate and the scooter was done. The gate is bent terribly, and the bottom corner has popped out of its usual position. There is no way the gate will go up or down now. That brings me to the even bigger problem: There is no way to get into the store tomorrow morning. Can you call me back and tell me what you think I should do?
[听力原文] W: Tim, I am going on break soon, so I need you to make an announcement for me. Please tell the passengers of flight number 5392B to Nebraska that there is going to be a slight delay. Their aircraft is at the gate, but the crew for the flight has not arrived yet. Their flight was rerouted to avoid a storm, and the flight took longer than planned. A few passengers are going to have questions, but just tell them that is all the information you have. Now, when the crew arrives, they will begin their final checks and prepare for boarding. Please keep in mind that every minute the plane is at the gate, the airport charges us a thousand dollars, so please work with the crew to get the passengers boarded efficiently. I will come by after my break to check on things, but I trust that you can handle this situation on your own.

But, eat as you are so you continue losing weight. We also tested for your blood sugar level, and while it is still higher than the average person, it is lower since your last blood test. Your health is definitely improving.

Floor seats are right in the front, just feet from the stage, and they offer the best view of the performance. These tickets cost $175 dollars each. If that is out of your budget, there are also seats in the lower level of the stadium. These tickets range from $90 to $55, based on location. Here is a printout of Harold Stadium. I've highlighted the areas where tickets for the Whitney Myers concert are still available.

[听力原文] M: These next slides show a kind of tree common to eastern Australia. These "stinging trees" as they are generally referred to are found in sunny areas of the rain forest, like around trails that hikers might find themselves on. There are some six species, but only two are tall and woody trees. The other four are low bush-like plants. On the leaves are thousands of tiny, transparent thorns. So if you brush up against the thorns, the tips will penetrate the skin—just like slivers of glass—break off, and release an irritating poison. The odd thing is no damage is done to the body—unlike a snakebite or a burn from a fire. It only causes intense pain. Now, I have had more than a few encounters with this tree and can say that the pain usually subsides in a few hours. I have heard stories, though, about severe rashes burning for months. There is no cure, but I have found that cold water, like dipping your hand or foot into a cold stream, does seem to ease the pain.
[听力原文] W: Hi, Mr. Thomas, is it? My name is Michelle Jackson. My friend Louise Smathers referred me to you, and I hope you can help me fix my Kirt Plus sewing machine. It is practically brand new. I have used it only a few times, but last week I was sewing a pair of jeans and the needle broke in half. I realize now my machine was not properly adjusted for such thick material, but that does not matter much now. I followed some instructions I found online on how to replace the needle. The needle is in place, but the thread simply will not go through the needle as it is supposed to. Fixing this is beyond my capabilities. When you get a chance, can you call me back? I live on the north side of town, but if it is inconvenient for you to come to my house, I can bring the machine to your workshop.

My kids cannot sleep and my husband and I need to spend the day looking for him. Old Blue has been an adventurous dog. He would sneak out the back door when it was open and go visit the other dogs in the neighborhood. He is never been gone this long though, and truth be told, my husband and I are a little nervous something has happened to him. Either he is in real danger, or someone with a kind heart figured he was a stray and decided to take him home with them. I hope not, but Old Blue might be gone forever. So, call me if anything important happens at the office today.
