[高分范文] It seems that we are overwhelmed in the Internet life and one cannot deny the merits born with the system. The Internet offers us excitement and a world of promise. First of all, the Internet has become the most convenient and efficient means for personal communication. To the Internet users, there are no borders between nations. The Internet can improve proficiency in scientific research, for by means of it scientists and researchers can get a global look at the latest development in the field concerned. While everything lives with opposite forces, the same can be said about the Internet. It is clear that not all the information available on the Internet is useful. It is even worse that some times a little breakdown of the system could bring people enormous amount of dangers and loss. As far as I am concerned, I enjoy the convenience that the Internet brings me. The Internet makes my life easier and enjoyable.
第一段主题句是“It seems that we are over whelmed in the Internet life and one cannot deny the merits born with the system.” 本文在第二段开头用了一个过渡句“While everything lives with opposite forces, the same can be said about the Internet.”,表示意义的转折。

Both the conversation and the questions will be spoken only once. After each question there will be a pause. During the pause, you must read the four choices marked A), B), C) and D), and decide which is the best answer. [解析] M: Is Jane looking forward to going home for this summer? W: She is counting the days. Q: What does the woman imply?

C选项have three classes in a row指连上三节课。

Passage One Questions 26 to 28 are based on the passage you have just heard.
[解析] 26-28 The motel, or motor inn, is the latest kind of place in which people who are away from home can stay. The first motel opened, it is said, in 1901 in Arizona. It was called Askin' s Cottage Camp. Later it was known as Askin' s Auto Camp, and the motel is still in operation there. It is believed that the word was first used in 1925 by the Milestone Motel. When the owner was painting the name of the place on a sign and saw that he had not allowed enough room on the board to have "Milestone Motor Hotel", he changed it to "Milestone Motel". Front the early days when a ten-room court was considered large, motels have grown. Today there are many with hundreds of units. Moreover, motel owners provide more and more for the guests' comfort and pleasure--such things as a choice of free radio or television, swimming pools, free parking and telephone service in every room. 26. 通过浏览选项,很快发现四个选项的共同之处:与“Milestone Motor Hotel”的名称有关,考生可推测本题与Milestone Motor Hotel的名称有关,就要注意听有这个关键词的句子:he had not allowed enough room on the board to have“Milestone Motor Hotel”, he changed it to“Milestone Motel”.——“Milestone Motor Hotel”旅馆老板在写招牌时为省空间,把招牌板上原先的“Milestone Motor Hotel”三个单词的名字更名为两个字的店名“Mile stone Motel”。

Passage Two Questions 29 to 31 are based on the passage you have just heard.
[解析] 29-31 Recently, over 30 million Americans of both sexes and all ages have shown great interest in walking. They have a strong desire to keep fit. By nature, Americans are enthusiastic and energetic about hobbies or pastimes. As a result, there are walkers' clubs to join in and many books and magazines to read about walking. Walking is probably the most overlooked way to physical fitness. Like other exercises, it can help control weight, strengthen the heart and lungs, ease stress and build up energy. Unlike many exercises, walking is simple, easy and cheap. Middle-aged men suffer from heart disease, the nation' s number one killer. Thus, they are strongly interested in walking. In fact, many doctors encourage their patients to become more physically active. It is interesting to note that the rate of heart disease began to decrease between 1992 and 1994 and it is still decreasing. Remember that it is possible to overdo anything, even walking. Many confused walkers overdo and finally suffer from ankle and foot damage. Be careful not to overexert yourself, especially in hot weather. 29. Who likes the physical exercise of walking in the United States?
文章首句很关键:“Recently, over 30 million Americans of both sexes and all ages have shown great interest in walking.”

What is true about the rate of heart disease between 1992 and 1994 in the United States?

Passage Three Questions 32 to 35 are based on the passage you have just heard.
[解析] 32-35 In the United States many parents teach their children at home by themselves. The U. S. Department of Education estimates there are 250,000 to 350,000 home-schooled children in the country. The reasons of home-schooling vary widely. Children may be home-schooled because they are ill and cannot attend a normal school. Distance is the reason for children living on outback land or large farms. It may take hours to get to school and back home each day. Their parents think it inhumane to send their children to state boarding school. Some home schoolers think low of public school education which lacks of religious perspective. They want their children to learn not only traditional subject matter but strict religious teaching and a conservative political and social perspective. Other home-schoolers want to keep their children away from other children, because their family' s faith or lifestyle is very different from that of those who attend the local school. There are, of course, some drawbacks of home-schooling. Social isolation is the major problem. Children are naturally social creatures and love to form friendship and learn in a group setting. Also, many home-schooled children may feel bored interacting with just their parents for many hours a day. And needless to say, not ail parents make good instructors. 32. How many children in the U. S. A. are home-schooled according to the passage?

Wherever there are strong ocean currents, resulting in broken (42) ice, you will find an(43) abundance of these animals.(44) They are scarcest where the ice is thick and unbroken, since these conditions offer few opportunities for the seal to come up to breathe the air he needs. Arctic seal hunting has been an active industry since the early part of the nineteenth century.(45) Today it still brings in substantial financial returns. More than 500,000 animals are killed each year by hunters operating in the main sealing grounds.(46) The furs, hides, blubber and oil of the seal bring in many millions of dollars a year.
fill the needs of这个短语搭配不是很常见,意思与meet the needs of类似,但feel the needs of和短文的第二句意思脱节了。
They are scarcest where the ice is thick and unbroken, since these conditions offer few opportunities for the seal to come up to breathe the air he needs
有两个从句,后面的原因状语从句动词较多,措辞比较复杂:offer opportunities for the seal to come up to breathe the air he needs,主句里的scarcest是scarce的最高级形式,不容易听出来。 In places where the ice is thick and unbroken seals are scarcest
10.
Today it still brings in substantial financial returns
11.
The furs, hides, blubber and oil of the seal bring in many millions of dollars a year
Section A Directions: In this section, there is a passage with ten blanks. You are required to select one word for each blank from a list of choices given in a word bank following the passage. Read the passage through carefully before making your choices. Each choice in the bank is identified by a letter. Please mark the corresponding letter for each item on Answer Sheet 2 with a single line through the centre. You may not use any of the words in the bank more than once. Lance Armstrong is thirty-three years old and is one of the best athletes in the world. Scientists say his body operates better than the 1 person. For example, his heart can 2 more than two hundred times a minute. It pumps an extremely large amount of blood and oxygen to his legs. Edward Coyle, head of the Human Performance Laboratory at the University of Texas in Aus tin, tested Armstrong five times from 1992 until 1995. Each time, the cyclist rode a 3 bike for twenty-five minutes with the work rate increasing every five minutes. Scientists measured Armstrong' s 4 against the amount of oxygen he breathed. Doctor Coyle discovered an 8% increase in Armstrong's muscle power. Doctor Coyle 5 Armstrong might have developed more of a certain kind of muscle during his seven years of training. Doctor Coyle also discovered that Armstrong was able to reduce his body weight and body fat before his Tour de France victories. This enabled him to increase his power in relation to his body weight by 18%. Doctor Coyle says the results of the 6 show that long-term training has more of an effect on athletes than scientists thought. Lance Armstrong is 7 in another way. In 1996, when he was twenty-five, he discovered he had cancer of the testicles (睾丸), which had spread to his lungs and brain. Armstrong received chemical 8 and several operations on his brain. After he 9 , he began training a gain in 1998. The next year he won his first Tour de France race. Many people who have 10 and are living with cancer believe he is a hero. A. bite I) performance B. study J) recovered C. average K) fixed D. suspected L) departed E. exercise M) frequent F. beat N) treatment G. unique O) breakthrough H) survived
Section B Directions: There are 2 passages in this section. Each passage is followed by some questions or unfinished statements. For each of them there are four choices marked A), B) , C) and D). You should decide on the best choice and mark the corresponding letter on Answer Sheet 2 with a single line through the centre.
Passage One It will come as no surprise that the earth is going to be a much more crowded place in the next century. From a global population of about 5. 4 billion today, the United Nations Fund for Population Activities says we' II see a rise to 8. 2 billion people in 2025. The U. N. expects the total population to stabilize (稳定) at Il. 6 billion sometime later in the 2000 s. More than ninety percent of the population growth will occur in developing countries. Eighteen of the world' s twenty largest cities will be in these lands as the number of urban-dwellers (城市居民) swells from roughly two billion to 5.1 billion. The Unites States and Europe, which in 1950 accounted for twenty-two percent of the world' s population, will be home to less than nine percent of its people in 2025. By contrast, Africa' s share of the total will climb from nine percent in 1950 to nearly twenty percent by 2015. Ethiopia should double in size to almost 100 million people. In about the same time period, India will overtake China as the world' s most populous country. For the United States, the big news won' t be an abundance of new faces; experts predict the country will grow from its present 250 million population and stabilize at about 350 million sometime before the middle of the 21st century. The important changes will be in American ethnic (种族的) makeup. Twenty years from now, the United States white, non-Hispanic majority will peak at 195 million, and then may decline in numbers. Asian-Americans will become an increasingly important minority, while African-Americans--whose population growth rate is slowing dramatically--will become the second-largest minority behind Hispanics, a half million of whom are now thought to be emigrating to the United States legally and otherwise, each year.

A B C D
A
African-Americans...will become the second-largest minority behind Hispanics可知Hispanics是美国最大的少数民族,故选项A正确。选项B定位于第二段倒数第二句:“Ethiopia should double in size to almost 100 million people.” India will over take China as the world’s most populous country,故可判断C为误。 Asian-Americans will become an increasingly important minority,故D为误。答案为A。
3. Which of the following statements is true according to the passage?
A.Hispanics are the largest ethnic group in the United States.

C.Though slowing in population growth, African-Americans will still become the second largest minority in the US.
D.The white, non-Hispanic majority in the United States of America will always decrease in numbers twenty years from now.
A B C D
C
African Americans...will be come the second-largest minority behind Hispanics可知Hispanics是美国最大的少数民族而不是最大的民族。选项B定位于最后一句后半部分a half million of whom are now thought to be emigrating to the United States legally and otherwise,故为误。选项C与A定位在一个地方,可判断该选项正确,选项D定位于第三段倒数第二句“Twenty years from now, the United States’white,non-Hispanic majority will peak at 195 million, and then may decline in numbers.”故D为误。答案为C。
4. Today people in the US account for about ______ percent of the global population.
A.9
B.4.6
C.22
D.6. 5
A B C D
B
From a global population of about 5.4billion today和第三段第一句experts predict the country will grow from its present 250 million population,经过简单的除法计算可知答案为B。

Passage Two What do a 15-year-old high school sophomore named Tanja Vogt and Thomas Paine have in common? The answer is that both inspired major changes in their societies by writing an essay. In October 1988, Vogt--a student at West Milford High School in New Jersey--read an article in her local newspaper that disturbed her. The article reported that the Board of Education had decided to use polystyrene (聚苯乙烯) trays in the lunchroom because they were less expensive than paper. Vogt knew from her science class that polystyrene can have harmful effects on the environment. In the first place, it is not biodegradable, meaning that it can' t be broken down by natural biological processes. In addition, some polystyrene products release gases called chlorofluo rocarbons (CFCs氟氯化碳) into the air. Scientific evidence indicates that these CFCs break down the protective ozone layer (臭氧层) of the atmosphere. Vogt decided to write a paper for her social studies class on the issue of polystyrene. Her teacher, Carl Stehle, read her paper to the class. After reminding students that Thomas Paine had had to persuade many hesitant colonists to support the American Revolution, Stehle challenged his class to do something about the polystyrene problem. Vogt and her classmates immediately conducted a survey in the high school and middle school. They discovered that a large majority of students said they wanted to switch back to paper goods in the cafeteria. When they presented their findings to the Board of Education, the board' s business administrator did a survey of his own. He found that roughly 80 percent of the students in the two schools would be willing to pay an extra nickel to eat their lunch from paper trays. As a result, the board voted in December to change to paper trays in all the township' s schools as of February 1, 1989.
1. The author' s purpose in writing this article is to ______.
A.tell the readers the power and influence of an effective essay
B.persuade the readers to do something to protect the environment
C.encourage the readers to challenge the authorities by writing essays
D.teach the readers to put what they learned in the class into practice
A B C D
A
根据第一段最后一句,“The answer is that both inspired major changes In their societies by writing an essay.”
2. Carl Stehle told his students Thomas Paine' s story in order to ______.
A.teach the students how to write an essay on preventing polystyrene from harming the environment
B.inspire the students to do something to persuade the Board of Education to change its decision
C.ask the students to work hard together to fight against the decision made by the Board of Education
D.let them know the power and influence of the effective essay written by Thomas Paine in the past
A B C D
B
Stehle challenged his class to do something about the polystyrene problem可知,Stehle作为教师讲这个故事, 目的是为了让学生们以 Thomas Paine为榜样为环境问题做点什么。
3. Which of the following statements is true according to the passage?
A.The majority of the students in the two schools found it acceptable to pay a bit more to eat their lunch from paper trays.
B.Scientific evidence indicates that polystyrene can seriously break down the protective ozone layer of the atmosphere.
C.The Board of Education changed its decision immediately after Vogt and her classmates presented their findings to it.
D.The Board of Education at last voted and decided to change to paper trays in these two schools from February 1, 1989.
A B C D
A
4. The word "presented" in Line 3 of Paragraph 5 can be best replaced by ______.
5. It can be inferred from the passage that ______.
A.there were altogether only two schools--the high school and the middle school in the small town where this story took place
B.polystyrene is the major factor that has done harm to the protective ozone layer of the atmosphere around the earth
C.the Board of Education actually had known the harmful effects of polystyrene on the environment before making the decision
D.Vogt and her classmates at last managed to persuade the Board of Education into changing their decision wish their academic knowledge
A B C D
C
根据最后一段中“When they presented their findings to the Board of Education, the board’s business administrator did a survey of his own...willing to pay an extra...trays.” 选项D错在with their academic knowledge,因为最终使the Board of Education改变主意的并不是Vogt等人的学术知识,而是其对民意的调查(survey)。
