Section Ⅰ Use of English Directions: Read the following text. Choose the best word(s) for each numbered blank and mark A, B, C or D on the ANSWER SHEET. Harlan Coben believed that if you are a writer, you will find the time; and that if you can't find the time, then writing isn't a priority and you're not a writer. For him, writing is a 1 job—a job is like any other. He has 2 it with plumbing, pointing out that plumber doesn't wake up and say that he can't work with pipes today. 3 , like most writers these days, you're holding down a job to pay the bills, it's not 4 to find the time to write. But it is not impossible. It requires determination and single-mindedness. 5 that most bestselling authors began writing who are fairly 6 often have to do other work to 7 their writing income. As Harlan Coben suggested, it's a 8 of priorities. You have to 9 some of your day-to-day activities and some things you really enjoy. Depending on your 10 and your lifestyle that may mean spending less time watching television or listening to music, though some people can write it 11 they listen to music. You might have to 12 the amount of exercise or sports you do. You'll have to make social media an 13 activity rather than a daily, time-consuming 14 . There'll probably have to be less socializing with your friends and less time with your family. It's a 15 learning curve, and it won't always make you popular. There's just one thing you should try to keep at least sometime for, 16 your writing and that's reading. Any writer needs to read as made and as widely as they can, it's the one 17 supporter something you can't do without. Time is finite. The older you get, the 18 it seems to go. We need to use it so carefully and as 19 as we can, that means prioritizing our activities so that we spend most time on the things we really want to do. If you are a writer, that means— 20 —writing.
1.
A.difficult
B.normal
C.steady
D.pleasant
A B C D
B
[解析] 本题根据文中writing is a ______ job—a job is like any other,另外破折号为解释说明作用可知,job的修饰性形容词应符合like any other(像其他的任何工作一样),四个选项中只有B项normal(正常的)符合like any other特性。
[解析] 本空所填写的逻辑关联词用来连接“you're holding down a job to pay the bills”与后文“it's not ______ to find the time to write.”
6.
A.well-known
B.well-advised
C.well-informed
D.well-chosen
A B C D
A
后文同位语解释说明“something you can't do without.”,根据句意可选答案A项“indispensable”,表示阅读对于作家来说不可缺少的。
Part A Directions: Read the following four texts. Answer the questions after each text by choosing A, B, C or D.
Text 1 On a recent sunny day, 13,000 chickens roam over Larry Brown's 40 windswept acres in Shiner, Texas. Some rest in the shade of a parked car. Others drink water with the cows. This all seems random, but it's by design, part of what the $6.1 billion U.S. egg industry bets will be its next big thing: climate-friendly eggs. These eggs, which are making their debut now on shelves for as much as $8 a dozen, are still labeled organic and animal-friendly, but they're also from birds that live on farms using regenerative agriculture—special techniques to cultivate rich soils that can trap greenhouse gases. Such eggs could be marketed as helping to fight climate change. "I'm excited about our progress," says Brown, who harvests eggs for Denver-based NestFresh Eggs and is adding more cover crops that draw worms and crickets for the chickens to eat. The birds' waste then fertilizes fields. Such improvements "allow our hens to forage for higher-quality natural feed that will be good for the land, the hens, and the eggs that we supply to our customers." The egg industry's push is the first major test of whether animal products from regenerative farms can become the next premium offering. In barely more than a decade, organic eggs went from being dismissed as a niche product in natural foods stores to being sold at Walmart. More recently there were similar doubts about probiotics and plant-based meats, but both have exploded into major supermarket categories. If the sustainable-egg rollout is successful, it could open the floodgates for regenerative beef, broccoli, and beyond. Regenerative products could be a hard sell, because the concept is tough to define quickly, says Julie Stanton, associate professor of agricultural economics at Pennsylvania State University Brandywine. Such farming also brings minimal, if any, improvement to the food products (though some producers say their eggs have more protein). The industry is betting that the same consumers paying more for premium attributes such as free-range, non-GMO, and pasture-raised eggs will embrace sustainability. Surveys show that younger generations are more concerned about climate change, and some of the success of plant-based meat can be chalked up to shoppers wanting to signal their desire to protect the environment. Young adults "really care about the planet," says John Brunnquell, president of Egg Innovations. "They are absolutely altering the food chain beyond what I think even they understand what they're doing."
1. The climate-friendly eggs are produced ______.
A.at a considerably low cost
B.at the demand of regular shoppers
C.as a replacement for organic egg
D.on specially designed farms
A B C D
D
[解析] 由题目中的关键词climate-friendly eggs和题文同序原则,可定位至第一段第四句④This all seems random, but it's by design, part of what the $6.1 billion U.S. egg industry bets will be its next big thing: climate-friendly eggs.(这一切似乎是随机的,但这是设计使然,价值61亿美元的美国鸡蛋行业押注下一件大事:气候友好型鸡蛋。)和第二段第一句①This all seems random, but it's by design, part of what the $6.1 billion U.S. egg industry bets will be its next big thing: climate-friendly eggs.(这些鸡蛋现在以高达8美元一打的价格首次上架,仍然贴着有机和动物友好的标签,但它们也来自使用再生农业的农场生活的鸟类-培育肥沃土壤的特殊技术可以捕获温室气体。)对比四个选项,可得知,选项D的on specially designed farms(在特殊设计的农场)是对定位句④中but it's by design(它是被设计的)的同义转述,故选项D为正确选项。
2. Larry Brown is excited about his program in ______.
A.reducing the damage of worms.
B.accelerating the disposal of waste.
C.creating a sustainable system.
D.attracting customers to his products.
A B C D
C
[解析] 根据题干中的关键词Larry Brown is excited和题文同序原则回文定位于第三段句①"I'm excited about our progress," says Brown, (我对我们的进展感到兴奋,布朗先生说道。)和句②和句③中的(鸟类的粪便会成为土壤的肥料) The birds' waste then fertilizes fields. Such improvements "allow our hens to forage for higher-quality natural feed that will be good for the land, the hens, and the eggs that we supply to our cust omers.”(这样的改进“使我们的母鸡能够寻找到更高质量的天然饲料,对土地、母鸡和我们供应给客户的鸡蛋都有好处。”)从而对比四个选项可知,选项C的creating a sustainable system.(创造一个可持续的系统)是对定位区域中句②The birds' waste then fertilizes fields.(鸟类的粪便会成为土壤的肥料)的概括总结。
3. The example of organic eggs is used in paragraph 4 to suggest_______.
A.the doubts over natural foods
B.the setbacks in the egg industry
C.the potential of regenerate products
D.the promotional success of supermarket
A B C D
C
[解析] 根据题干中的关键词organic eggs, is used to suggest可知,此题为例证题,根据organic eggs回文定位于第4段第2句In barely more than a decade, organic eggs went from being dismissed as a niche product in natural foods stores to being sold at Walmart. The egg industry's push is the first major test of whether animal products from regenerative farms can become the next premium offering。 C.the potential of regenerate products(可再生产品的潜力)跟观点最一致。
4. It can be learned from the last paragraph that young people_______.
A.are reluctant to change their diet
B.are likely to buy climate-friendly eggs
C.are curious about new foods
D.are amazed at agricultural advances
A B C D
B
[解析] 根据题干信息last paragraph和young people可以定位到最后一段的2-4句,第2句直接表明了年轻人更关心气候变化( concerned about climate change),并且购物者想要保护环境(shoppers wanting to signal their desire to protect the environment)。 (Young adults“really care about the planet),他们会改变他们的食物链(They are absolutely altering the food chain)。
5. John Brunnquell would disagree with Julie Stanton over regenerative products'_______.
A.market prospects
B.nutritional value
C.standard definition
D.moral implications
A B C D
A
(Regenerative products could be a hard sell),对此并不看好。
Text 2 More Americans are opting to work well into retirement, a growing trend that threatens to upend the old workforce model. One in three Americans who are at least 40 have or plan to have a job in retirement to prepare for a longer life, according to a survey conducted by Harris Poll for TD Ameritrade. Even more surprising is that more than half of "unretirees"—those who plan to work in retirement or went back to work after retiring-said they would be employed in their later years even if they had enough money to settle down, the survey showed. Financial needs aren't the only culprit for the "unretirement" trend Other reasons, according to the study, include personal fulfillment such as staying mentally fit, preventing boredom or avoiding depression. "The concept of retirement is evolving," said Christine Russell, senior manager of retirement at TD Ameritrade. "It's not just about finances. The value of work is also driving folks to continue working past retirement." One reason for the change in retirement patterns: Americans are living longer. The share of the population 65 and older was 16% in 2018, up 3.2% from the prior year, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. That's also up 30.2% since 2010. Because of longer life spans, Americans are also boosting their savings to preserve their nest eggs, the TD Ameritrade study showed, which surveyed 2,000 adults between 40 to 79. Six in 10 "unretirees" are increasing their savings in anticipation of a longer life, according to the survey. Among the most popular ways they are doing this, the company said, is by reducing their overall expenses, securing life insurance or maximizing their contributions to retirement accounts. Unfortunately, many people who are opting to work in retirement are preparing to do so because they are worried about making ends meet in their later years, said Brent Weiss, a co-founder at Baltimore-based financial-planning firm Facet Wealth. He suggested that preretirees should speak with a financial adviser to set long-term financial goals. "The most challenging moments in life are getting married, starting a family and ultimately retiring," Weiss said. "It's not just a financial decision, but an emotional one. Many people believe they can't retire."
1. The study conducted by Harris Poll indicates that ______.
A.more than half retirees are physically fit for job
B.the old worker is as active as young people
C.one in three Americas want to retire earlier
D.more Americans are willing to work in retirement
A B C D
D
One in three Americans who are at least 40 have or plan to have a job in retirement to prepare for a longer life, according to a survey conducted by Harris Poll for TD Ameritrade.(根据Harris Poll为TD Ameritrade进行的一项调查,三分之一的40岁以上的美国人已经或计划在退休后有一份工作,为更长的寿命做准备),其中a survey conducted by Harris Poll与题干关键词一致。原文信息对应于选项D的表述more Americans are willing to work in retirement(更多美国人愿意在退休后工作),more Americans(更多的美国人)对应于One in three Americans who are at least 40(三分之一的40岁以上的美国人),have or plan to have a job in retirement(已经或计划在退休后有一份工作)对应于are willing to work in retirement(愿意在退休后工作),故D为正确选项。
2. It can be inferred from paragraph 3 that Americans tend to think that ______.
A.retirement may cause problems for them
B.boredom can be relieved after retirement
C.the mental health of retirees is overlooked
D.unretirement contributes to the economy
A B C D
A
Financial needs aren't the only culprit for the "unretirement" trend. Other reasons, according to the study, include personal fulfillment such as staying mentally fit, preventing boredom or avoiding depression. D“unretirement”contributes to the economy(“非退休”对经济有贡献)意思不符,故排除。
3. Retirement patterns are changing partly due to ______.
A.labor shortages
B.population growth
C.longer life expectancy
D.rising living costs
A B C D
C
Retirement patterns are changing partly due to可直接定位到第5段第1句One reason for the change in retirement patterns: Amencans are living longer.。 对应C选项longer life expectancy(更长的生命预期寿命)。 The share of the population 65 and older was 16% in 2018, up 3.2% from the prior year, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. That's also up 30.2% since 2010.
4. Many "unretirees" are increasing their saving by ______.
A.increasing up in stocks
B.taking up odd jobs
C.getting well-paid work
D.spending less
A B C D
D
Six in 10 "unretirees" are increasing their savings in anticipation of a longer life, according to the survey. A项股票上涨(increasing up in stocks)B项打零工(taking up odd jobs)C项getting well-paid work(获取报酬优厚的工作)在文中均未提及,属于无中生有,故排除。
5. With regard to the retirement, Brent Weiss think that many people are ______.
A.unprepared
B.unafraid
C.disappointed
D.enthusiastic
A B C D
A
(they are worried about making ends meet in their later years),由worried可知,态度呈现负面立场。
Text 3 We have all encountered them, in both our personal and professional lives. Think about the times you felt tricked or frustrated by a membership or subscription that had a seamless sign up process but was later difficult to cancel. Something that should be simple and transparent can be complicated, intentionally or unintentionally, in ways that impair consumer choice. These are examples of dark patterns. First coined in 2010 by user experience expert Harry Brignull, "dark patterns" is a catch-all term for practices that manipulate user interfaces to influence the decision-making ability of users. On dark patterns.org, Brignull identifies 12 types of common dark patterns, ranging from misdirection and hidden costs to "roach motel," where a user experience seems easy and intuitive at the start, but turns difficult when the user tries to get out. In a 2019 study of 53,000 product pages and 11,000 websites, researchers found that about one in 10 employs these design practices. Though widely prevalent, the concept of dark patterns is still not well understood. Business and nonprofit leaders should be aware of dark patterns and try to avoid the gray areas they engender. Where is the line between ethical, persuasive design and dark patterns? Businesses should engage in conversations with IT, compliance, risk, and legal teams to review their privacy policy, and include in the discussion the customer/user experience designers and coders responsible for the company's user interface, as well as the marketers and advertisers responsible for sign-ups, checkout baskets, pricing, and promotions. Any or all these teams can play a role in creating or avoiding "digital deception." Lawmakers and regulators are slowly starting to address the ambiguity around dark patterns, most recently at the state level. In March, the California Attorney General announced the approval of additional regulations under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) that "ensure that consumers will not be confused or misled when seeking to exercise their data privacy rights." The regulations aim to ban dark patterns—this means prohibiting companies from using "confusing language or unnecessary steps such as forcing them to click through multiple screens or listen to reasons why they shouldn't opt out." As more states consider promulgating additional regulations, there is a need for greater accountability from within the business community. Dark patterns also can be addressed on a self-regulatory basis, but only if organizations hold themselves accountable, not just to legal requirements but also to industry best practices and standards.
1. It can be learned from the first two paragraphs that dark patterns ______.
A.improve user experiences
B.leak user information for profit
C.undermine users' decision-making
D.remind users of hidden costs
A B C D
C
[解析] 根据题干信息first two paragraphs和dark pattern可以看出第一段举了一些例子在说明dark pattern是如何破坏消费者的选择(impair consumer choice)在第二段又进一步解释dark pattern如何影响用户决策能力的做法(influence the decision-making ability of users)根据两段内容,可以得出黑暗模式(dark pattern)的正确答案是C项破坏用户的决策(undermine users' decision-making). A选项改善用户体验(improve user experiences)和文章是相反,对应文章中的句子是(where a user experience seems easy and intuitive at the start用户体验在一开始看起来很容易,很直观)but turns difficult when the user tries to get out.(但当用户试图离开时就变得很困难)所以是错。 (On dark patterns.org,Brignull identifies 12 types of common dark patterns, ranging from misdirection and hidden costs to "roach motel,")所以错。
2. The 2019 study on dark patterns is mentioned to show ______.
A.their major flaws
B.their complex designs
C.their severe damage
D.their strong presence
A B C D
D
(2)根据2019 study,以及dark patterns,不难将定位句确定为第二段,第三句,即“In a 2019 study of 53,000 product pages and 11,000 websites, researchers found that about one in 10 employs these design practices.”①精准定位:定位句为论据,前面一句或者后面一句为论点;前面一句:“where a user experience seems easy and intuitive at the start, but turns difficult when the user tries to get out.” 通过以上步骤可以确定,定位句并不在例子前一句,因此看后面一句:“Though widely prevalent, the concept of dark patterns is still not well understood.” their major flaws无中生有,原文定位段并未出现flaw的意思,their complex designs第一段中有提到complicated,因为据定位句较远,且意思为“如此简单透明的东西却被有意无意的复杂化来干扰消费者的选择”,their severe damage无中生有,damage在全文中没有明确提及,只有在第二段第一句中提及,“dark patterns is a catch-all term for practices that manipulate user interfaces to influence the decision-making ability of users.” dark patterns会操控使用者的界面从而影响他们做决定的能力,并不等同于严重的危害,不可过度推理。
3. To handle digital deception, businesses should ______.
A.listen to customer feedback
B.talk with relevant teams
C.turn to independent agencies
D.rely on professional training
A B C D
B
(Businesses should engage in conversations with IT, compliance, risk, and legal teams to review their privacy policy, and include in the discussion the customer/user experience designers and coders responsible for the company's user interface, as well as the marketers and advertisers responsible for sign-ups, checkout baskets, pricing, and promotions.) Any or all these teams can play a role in creating or avoiding "digital deception."
4. The additional regulations under the CCPA are intended to ______ .
A.guide users through opt-out processes
B.protect consumers from being tricked
C.grant company's data privacy rights
D.restrict access to problematic content
A B C D
B
(In March,...announced the approval of additional regulations under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) that“ensure that consumers will not be confused or misled when seeking to exercise their data privacy rights.”) 选项A中的guide users through opt-out processes(指导用户选择退出程序)出现在原文定位句下一句:The regulations aim to ban dark patterns......such as forcing them to click through multiple screens or listen to reasons why they shouldn't opt out.”。选项A既不是题目的出处,还对原文信息“listen to reasons why they shouldn't opt out”(听取为什么他们不该退出的理由)进行了篡改。
5. According to the last paragraph, a key to coping with dark patterns is______ .
A.new legal requirements
B.businesses' self-discipline
C.strict regulatory standards
D.consumers' safety awareness

Dark patterns also can be addressed...(黑暗模式也可以……
Text 4 Although ethics classes are common around the world, scientists are unsure if their lessons can actually change behavior; evidence either way is weak, relying on contrived laboratory tests or sometimes unreliable self-reports. But a new study published in Cognition found that, in at least one real-world situation, a single ethics lesson may have had lasting effects. The researchers investigated one class session's impact on eating meat. They chose this particular behavior for three reasons, according to study co-author Eric Schwitzgebel, a philosopher at the University of California, Riverside: students' attitudes on the topic are variable and unstable, behavior is easily measurable, and ethics literature largely agrees that eating less meat is good because it reduces environmental harm and animal suffering. Half of the students in four large philosophy classes read an article on the ethics of factory-farmed meat, optionally watched an 11-minute video on the topic and joined a 50-minute discussion. The other half focused on charitable giving instead Then, unbeknownst to the students, the researchers studied their anonymized meal-card purchases for that semester—nearly 14,000 receipts for almost 500 students. "It's an awesome data set," says Nina Strohminger, a psychologist who teaches business ethics at the University of Pennsylvania and was not involved in the study. Schwitzgebel predicted the intervention would have no effect; he had previously found that ethics professors do not differ from other professors on a range of behaviors, including voting rates, blood donation and returning library books. But among student subjects who discussed meat ethics, meal purchases containing meat decreased from 52 to 45 percent—and this effect held steady for the study's duration of several weeks. Purchases from the other group remained at 52 percent. "That's actually a pretty large effect for a pretty small intervention," Schwitzgebel says. Strohminger agrees: "The thing that still blows my mind is that the only thing that's different between these two cases is just that one day in class." She says she wants the effect to be real but cannot rule out some unknown confounding variable. And if real, Strohminger notes, it might be reversible by another nudge: "Easy come, easy go." Schwitzgebel suspects the greatest impact came from social influence—classmates or teaching assistants leading the discussions may have shared their own vegetarianism, showing it as achievable or more common. Second, the video may have had an emotional impact. Least rousing, he thinks, was rational argument, although his co-authors (University of Kansas's Bradford Cokelet and Princeton University's Peter Singer) say reason might play a bigger role. Now the researchers are probing the specific effects of teaching style, T.A.s' eating habits and students' video exposure. Meanwhile Schwitzgebel—who had predicted no effect—will be eating his words.
1. Scientists generally believe that the effects of ethics classes are_______.
A.hard to determine
B.narrowly interpreted
C.difficult to ignore
D.poorly summarized
A B C D
A
2. Which of the following is the reason for researchers to study meat eating? ______
A.It is common among students
B.It is a behavior easy to measure
C.It is important for students' health
D.It is a hot topic in ethic classes
A B C D
B
They chose this particular behavior for three reasons(他们选择这一特殊行为的三个原因);分别是students' attitudes on the topic are variable and unstable(学生对于这个话题的态度大不相同并且不太稳定),behavior is easily measurable,(行为便于衡量)以及ethics literature largely agrees that eating less meat is good because it reduces environmental harm and animal suffering.(伦理文献中基本上同意少吃肉是好的,因为它减少了对于环境的破坏以及动物的痛苦。) B:The behavior is easy to measure(行为便于衡量)和第二条理由完全相同。 选项A中It is common among students(在学生之间是普遍的),选项B中的It is important for students' health(对于学生的健康很重要)和选项D中的It is a hot topic in ethic classes(在伦理课堂中是热点话题)在原文均未提及。
3. Eric Schwitzgelbel's previous findings suggest that ethic professors ______.
4. Nina Strohminger thinks the effect of the intervention is ______.
A.permanent
B.predictable
C.uncertain
D.unrepeatable
A B C D
C
原文说she wants the effect to be real but cannot rule out some unknown confounding variable. And if real, Strohminger notes, it might be reversible by another nudge: "Easy come, easy go."(她希望效果是真实的,但不能排除一些未知的混杂变量。 通过原文的Easy come, easy go.
5. Eric Schwitzgebel suspects that the students' change in behavior ______.
A.can bring psychological benefits
B.can be analyzed statistically
C.is a result of multiple factors
D.is a sign of self-development
A B C D
C
[解析] 由题目中的关键词Eric Schwitzgebel以及the students' change in behavior,可定位到文章最后一段,其中句①写到the greatest impact came from social influence(最大的影响来自于社交影响);句②表明Second, the video may have had an emotional impact.(其次,视频可能产生了情感影响);句③提及reason might play a bigger role(理性可能发挥着更为重要的作用)。 C:is a result of multiple factors(是多重因素的结果)是对上文三点内容的归纳。 选项A中的can bring psychological benefits(能带来心理上的好处),选项B中的can be analyzed statistically(可以进行统计分析)和选项D中的is a sign of self-development(是自我发展的标志)在原文均未提及。

How to Get Active Again After a Break
Whether you've recently lost your routine or are just looking to get back in shape, these simple strategies will help. Getting back into exercise can be a challenge in the best of times, but with gyms and in-person exercise classes off-limits to many people these days because of COVID-19 concerns, it can be tricky to know where to start. And it's important to get the right dose of activity. "Too much too soon either results in injury or burnout," says Mary Yoke, PhD, a faculty member in the kinesiology department at Indiana University in Bloomington. Follow this advice to return to exercise safely. 1 Don't try to go back to what you were doing before your break. If you were walking 3 miles a day, playing 18 holes of golf three times a week, or lifting 10-pound dumbbells for three sets of 10 reps, reduce activity to ½ mile every other day, or nine holes of golf once a week with short walks on other days, or use 5 pound dumbbells for one set of 10 reps. Increase time, distance, and intensity gradually. "This isn't something you can do overnight," Denay says. But you'll reap benefits such as less anxiety and improved sleep right away. 2 If you're breathing too hard to talk in complete sentences, back off. If you feel good, go a little longer or faster. Feeling wiped out after a session? Go easier next time. And stay alert to serious symptoms, such as chest pain or pressure, severe shortness of breath or dizziness, or faintness, and seek medical attention immediately. 3 Consistency is the key to getting stronger and building endurance and stamina. Ten minutes of activity per day is a good start, says Marcus Jackovitz, DPT, a physical therapist at the University of Miami Hospital. All the experts we spoke with highly recommending walking because it's the easiest, most accessible form of exercise. Although it can be a workout on its own, if your goal is to get back to Zumba classes, tennis, cycling, or any other activity, walking is also a great first step. 4 Even if you can't yet do a favorite activity, you can practice the moves. With or without a club or racket, swing like you're hitting the ball. Paddle like you're in a kayak or canoe. Mimic your favorite swimming strokes. The action will remind you of the joy the activity brought you and prime your muscles for when you can get out there again. 5 Exercising with others "can keep you accountable and make it more fun, so you're more likely to do it again," Jackovitz says. You can do activities such as golf and tennis or take a walk with others and still be socially distant. But when you can't connect in person, consider using technology. Chat on the phone with a friend while you walk around your neighborhood. FaceTime or Zoom with a relative as you strength train or stretch at home.
1.
E
“This isn't something you can do overnight”这不是你一夜之间就能完成的事,与E选项中go slow(慢慢来)对应。
最后一句serious symptoms“严重症状”也会锁定D选项Listen to your body。
3.
A
4.
F
[解析] 该段首句即提到activity“活动”一词,并且给出建议you can practice the moves“你能够练习动作“。
5.
B
[解析] 该段首句提出Jackovitz的观点,即“和他人一起运动”(exercising with others)可以带来好处——让你有责任心(keep you accountable);让运动更有趣(make it more fun),因而你更可能再次去锻炼。第二句举例可以做的运动——高尔夫(golf);网球(tennis);和他人一起散步(take a walk with others)。 (Exercising with others, take a walk with others, Chat on the phone with a friend, FaceTime or Zoom with a relative),可以是朋友,可以是亲戚,所以要选一个和他人有关的选项。
Section Ⅲ Translation Directions: Translate the following text into Chinese.
1. Although we try our best, sometimes our paintings rarely turn out as originally planned.Changes in the light, the limitations of your painting materials and the lack of experience and technique mean that what you start out trying to achieve may not come to life the way that you Expected. Although this can be frustrating and disappointing, it turns out that this can actually be good for you. Unexpected results have two benefits: you pretty quickly learn to deal with disappointment and realise that when one door closes, another opens. You also quickly learn to adapt and come up with creative solutions to the problems the painting presents, and thinking outside the box will become your second nature. In fact, creative problem-solving skills are incredibly useful in daily life, with which you are more likely to be able to find a solution when a problem arises.
Although we try our best, sometimes our paintings rarely turn out as originally planned. 主干为主谓结构,主语是our paintings,谓语是rarely turn out,as为连词引导方式状语。 Changes in the light, the limitations of your painting materials and the lack of experience and technique mean that what you start out trying to achieve may not come to life the way that you expected. Changes in light, the limitation of your painting materials, and the lack of experience and technique,谓语动词是mean,宾语是that引导的从句that what you start out trying to achieve may not come to life the way you expected。宾语从句为主谓结构:主语是what引导的名词性从句what you start out trying to achieve,谓语是may not come,to life为状语,the way you expected为方式状语“以你所期望的方式”。 ●the limitations of your painting materials:这里是名词修饰名词A of B的形式,因此在翻译成汉语时要译为“B的A”,即“绘画原料的局限性”。 ●the lack of experience and technique;这里也是名词修饰名词A of B的形式,因此在翻译成汉语时要译为“B的A,’,即“(绘画)经验和技巧的缺乏”。 ●what you start out trying to achieve;这里是what引导的名词性从句。在处理此类句子时,我们可以将what暂时替换成the thing,那么这部分就变成了the thing you start out trying to achieve,意为“你最初想要达到的东西”。 ●the way you expected:最后这个方式状语比较简单,意思是“你所期望的方式”。 Although this can be frustrating and disappointing, it turns out that this can actually be good for you. 本句为although引导的让步状语从句,that引导的主语从句 ●this can be frustrating and disappointing;这是个主系表结构,重点在于两个实词的翻译。 ●it turns out that this can actually be good for you: it为形式主语,that后为真正的主句结构,或者也可以把it turns out that理解为一直固定表达,翻译为“事实证明,这实际上对你是有益的”。 Unexpected results have two benefits: you pretty quickly learn to deal with disappointment and realise that when one door closes, another opens. You also quickly learn to adapt and come up with creative solutions to the problems the painting presents, and thinking outside the box will become your second nature. ●“the problems the painting presents”定语从句的考查;因为这里定语从句相对简单;所以翻译的时候前置翻译;绘画所带来(呈现)的问题 ●Thinking outside the box:这里一定不能翻译成在盒子外思考;这里根据上下文的理解,我们应该能明白,原文大体意思讲的就是“创新思维”的重要性,所以这里我们可以把box理解为一些“条条框框”或者“定式”的东西,所以outside the box,我们可以翻译为“跳出固有思维”,“跳出思维定式”,“打破常规思考”等。 In fact, creative problem-solving skills are incredibly useful in daily life, with which you are more likely to be able to find a solution when a problem arises. 本句为复合句,主干部分为creative problem-solving skills are incredibly useful in daily life。 ●are more likely和be able to:be likely to do sth. 和be able to do sth.

[范文] What is shown in the bar chart above indicates that dramatic changes have taken place in China in terms of the number of delivery services from 2018 to 2020. During that period, there was a marked jump of 32 billion from 51 billion to 83 billion in overall situation, while that of rural areas increased gradually, by 18 billion from 12 billion to 30 billion. This phenomenon received a great deal of attention in the public, for it exerts a considerable impact on people in modern society. To start with, perhaps it is the convenience and efficiency of delivery business that leads people to be more likely to use the delivery service. Besides, a majority of individuals are under the belief that it is a direct consequence of the support from the authorities to this industry. All of these lead to the popularity of express, especially in less-developed rural areas. Therefore, it is pleasant to think that this trend becomes prevailing. Considering every aspect of this tendency, I can safely draw a conclusion that the prosperity in the industry of express will continue in the following years. Both our government and the market should spend efforts to carry forward the progress, especially when facing the overwhelming threat from the epidemic, so as to reduce people's mobility while ensuring that we can get daily necessities through certain ways of delivery.
