1. Introduce yourself.
[范文]
Good morning, professors, I am honored to introduce myself to all of you. My name is Li Ming, 26 years old. I come from Wuhan City, Hubei Province. In the year 2008, I received my bachelor's degree in Peking University. Now I am a graduating student of Wuhan University of Technology. I major in electronic engineering.
As a Greek proverb says, the most difficult thing is to know yourself. In my opinion, it's really hard to know oneself, but it's the most important thing one has to do. As for me, I have three merits. I'm filial, honest and hardworking. Being filial and honest are the two basic qualities that people should have. And through working hard, I can acquire knowledge and improve myself. I think my valuable asset is the ability to stick to things and get them done. I can always gain a real sense of accomplishment when I complete a task as planned. In fact, I got the highest scores in the class in many courses. I do believe self-confidence is the key to success and achievement. However, no one is perfect. I have some week points, too. For example, sometimes I don't make plans for my life. As a result, sometimes I am a little lazy and don't arrange my schedules so well. Since I've got to know myself well, I hope I can change a little and make myself better.
With time going by, I find many complicated problems arising in my research area and I'm eager to learn more and solve more problems. And that's why I'd like to further my education and complete my PhD courses, which I believe can broaden my horizons and offer me more opportunities.
This is a brief introduction about myself. And I really look forward to being admitted and becoming a member of the doctoral class. Thank you very much.
2. Why did you choose to study for a PhD?
[范文]
As far as I am concerned, I do my best to seize the opportunity to complete my doctoral education. There are three reasons contributing to it.
First and for most of all, after I receive the doctor's degree, my academic ability can be greatly improved. Now undergraduate students are less competitive. In the next five to ten years, the advantages of postgraduates will gradually lose. The doctoral degree can ensure the absolute advantage of employment choice. If I want to work in politics, I can have many opportunities as a doctoral student. For example, I may start from the deputy department level, which is difficult for most people to reach in a lifetime.
Second, as a doctoral student, I may get unimaginable network resources. Once I become a doctor, which is the highest academic qualification at present, I will own a private circle of the scholars. Every doctoral student is either outstanding or has various resources. Once I join the doctoral circle, I can get in touch with more scholars and make good use of more resources.
Third, doctoral students can have more opportunities to work in scientific research institutions or universities. As a matter of fact, nowadays almost all the researchers and teachers recruited in colleges and universities possess a doctorate. And it's great to work in a college or university, considering that the staff there have a certain social status, are respected by others, and have a high salary.
In conclusion, the reasons why I pursue my doctorate have been clarified above, and I will concentrate all of my efforts on my learning process, and also enjoy the process of realizing my dream.
3. Use a few key words to summarize the current development of continuing education in China.
(1) Continuing education for academic qualifications in colleges and universities will still exist for a long time.
(2) The structure of potential students in continuing education with adult academic qualifications is undergoing great changes. Secondary vocational schools and amateur students will become important sources of continuing education with adult higher education.
(3) The basic form of adult academic education has not changed.
(4) Network education and adult correspondence enrollment tend to balance.
(5) The trend of networking, informatization, APP (mobile phone) and fragmentation is obvious.
