2. Successful sports professionals can earn a great deal more money than people in other important professions. Some people think this is fully justified while others think it is unfair. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

In my opinion, it is not fair that successful sports stars can earn more than people in other professions. In this essay, I would like to look at why some people believe that this is acceptable and why others, including myself, do not.
Some people think that sports stars should be allowed to earn as much money as they can. This is the approach taken in many professions, such as law, for example. Some lawyers, particularly the better ones, earn more money than other lawyers. If they are more successful in acting for their clients, or are in high demand for any other reason, there should be no concern about this since it is a demonstration of the market forces of supply and demand at work.
However, with sports stars, the situation is not the same. In my opinion, the reason is that in other professions most of the skills needed to be above average can be developed through study or experience. These should be encouraged. Sports stars may achieve a lot, but their achievements are often a result of natural attributes rather than those they have developed through hard work. For example, most top basketball players earn a lot of money simply because they are lucky enough to be born tall rather than because they are well educated. I do not believe that this luck should be valued by society more than education and experience.
In conclusion, sports stars should have their earnings capped. This will send the message to people, particularly young people, that making a fortune is not simply a matter of luck, but should be achieved over a longer period of time after getting a good education and gaining a wealth of experience in a field.
[参考范文2]——这是公平的
Whilst many people believe that top sports stars are often overpaid is unfair, I do not. In this essay, I will give my reasons for believing that they earn what they deserve and look at why some disagree.
Successful sports stars, such as Michael Jordan and David Beckham, earn much more money than most of us can ever hope to earn. This may, at first sight, appear unfair. After all, these top sports stars are not fundamentally better people than the rest of us. However, they have one thing in common that we ordinary people do not share with them—they are able to grab the attention of millions of people with their skills. These skills have taken years of training to develop, with hours of hard practise almost every day. They are skills that people are prepared to pay a lot of money to see—consider, for example, the cost of a ticket to see the World Cup Final live. Consequently, they deserve the money they make.
Other people disagree and think that successful sports stars make more than is fair. They point out that a successful sports star might have a short career at the top, but that they can find other work, for example, as coaches, after their time at the top has ended. They also point out that, since top sports stars are idolised by young people, they suggest that money is the most important thing in life, which is something that many people do not wish to encourage in young people.
Whilst I can see certain disadvantages in having successful sports professionals earning vast amounts of money, I think that they deserve what they earn as a result of their skills.
